With an extended TCU installed in trucks, buses, and off-highway machines, on-board and diagnostic data can be collected on-the-fly. If equipped with a radio data link, data from a fleet of vehicles can be sent to a cloud server. Smart data-analyzing procedures that support predictive maintenance will help to significantly increase the uptime of heavy-duty vehicles.
The technical article “Big data and next-gen prognostics for heavy-duty vehicles” (published in Trucks & Off-Highway Engineering, page 26-28, 08/2018), written by Peter Subke, Director of Business Development, Heavy-Duty Applications at Softing Automotive Electronics, is about diagnostic communication of vehicles, heavy duty trucks and buses as well as off-highway machines and the role of Softing´s Smart Diagnostic Engine (SDE) for this purpose. You also get an answer to one of the most important questions regarding the evolution of big data: What data do I need?
